Training Subsidy Summary

  • Registered apprentices would be recommended for admitting to relative programme
  • If employers successfully apply training subsidy under the ‘Project for Tradesman Trainees’, a collaboration between Youth Employment and Training Programme of the Labour Department and this Office; Apprentices may apply an Off-the-job Vocational Training Course with upper limit of $5,000.
  • The Ship Repair Training Incentive Scheme of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB) provides a monthly subsidy of HK$5,000 for a maximum of 36 months to each eligible registered apprentice who has joined for apprenticeship in the ship repair industry, a maximum subsidy amount is HK$180,000.
  • Apprentice joining the Vocational Training Council’s Earn & Learn Scheme can receive subsidy from the government.
  • Starting from 1 April 2024, the Government provides a “Training Allowance” of HK$1,000 per month for each eligible registered apprentice for a maximum of 36 months with a maximum subsidy amount of HK$36,000.
  • In addition, the Government also provides an" Upskilling Allowance" with a maximum amount of HK$30,000 for each graduated apprentice. Graduated apprentice who completes apprenticeship training between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2027, remains working in the specified trade for 18 and 36 months, and completed relevant training course to the specific trade, will be eligible to apply allowance for a maximum reimbursement amounts of HK$10,000 and HK$20,000 respectively.
